I’m NOT a Capricorn?! Now What?

I was watching the Netflix series by Vox called Explained and the episode about astrology touched my heart. It was very clear that we use astrology and various forms of mysticism to try to make sense of our world and ourselves. We are all asking questions to attempt to control the uncontrollable and I believe that God loves us for that.

I grew up in a home that regularly used astrology and astronomy to explain things about people and their interactions with one another. The concept of my sun sign was so reinforced for me that I began to try to emulate certain aspects of being a Capricorn so I could prove these things truthful. The more interactions I had with different people, the more I tried to research and explain with these methods, even joining websites that promised to give you your birth chart and help you interpret how your chart aligned with that of your lover’s to predict outcomes.

Of course, these left me with more questions and added to my heartbreak because while the chart said we should be living together happily ever after, he’d dumped me the month before because of (fill-in the blank).

The more I watched the episode and the explanations for the millennia old practices throughout various cultures, the more my heart filled with love for humankind.

This life is crazy.

This life is amazing.

This life is filled with more frustration, heartache, joy, beauty, and love than any single heart can handle. The chaos that this life can be and the peace that we crave are concepts that humans have tried to come to terms with as long as there have been humans.

My real reason for writing this post is to reach out to whoever is reading this and reassure you that you are not alone. When you’re struggling with questions, doubts, frustrations, and need some assurance about the future, you’re not alone.

Answers may not come quickly or easily, but they will come and the process of getting there is really what it’s about. Trust that process. Take the next steps. You’ve got this.

Just in case you’re curious about my headline, here is the Today article about the “new” astrological signs. 🙂
